It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family,
announce the passing of Alexander MacNeil on July 21, 2010, at the
Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving
family.
Born in Benacadie Glen, he was the son of the late John James and
Mary Lucy (MacDougall) MacNeil.
Alexander leaves behind his longtime companion, Elaine MacGillivary;
daughter, Kimberlee MacNeil, Sydney; son, John Raymond (Erica)
MacNeil, Alberta; sisters, Margaret MacNeil, New Brunswick, Theresa
(Mel) Gillis, Boston; brothers, Michael, Benacadie Glenn, Eddie, New
Brunswick, Jimmy (Marie), New Brunswick, Melvin (Jean), Toronto,
Roddie, Dartmouth, and Martin (Wilma Jean), Christmas Island; the
mother of his children and his good friend, Marie MacNeil;
grandchildren, Lisa (Dan), Sherri (John), Derek (Ashley), Cohen and
Jolene, all of Sydney; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, Emma,
Brooke, Kenneth and Braiden.
Besides his parents, Alexander was predeceased by his son, Alfred,
brother, John Dan, and granddaughter, Tara Lynn.
Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2010, from 12- 2 p.m. at the S.W.
Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A funeral
service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with
Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in
Resurrection Cemetery.
