Shawn,
Your film project is exciting, not only because you've got footage related to one of the artifacts in our collection. Film of family members and the trips they took is such a priceless way to learn about and celebrate the history of your family, too! Good luck as you continue your project!

Hi there,
I don't know if this was any relation to you folks, however, I lived on Plum Island, Newburyport during the 50's -70's. My family lived next door to the Gillis's. He was Andrew Joseph Gillis, aka "Bossy" Gillis, Mayor of Newburyport for several years on & off. And his 1st wife was Louise ?, she died in 1951 & his 2nd wife was Marguente aka Marg. Along with his position as Mayor he also owned & operated a gas station in the center of Market Square, Newburyport next to the fire department. He was born Aug 26, 1896 possibly Newburyport, and he died Nov 4, 1965 in Newburyport, MA. His parents were from P.E.I. and were Irish immigrants. His dad was a Ship Carpenter.
I didn't know if this was of interest to you. There are a lot of old newspaper articles on Andrew during his mayor years. I don't know much more about his family than what I already wrote. But I am sure I can find out some stuff if your interested.
Sincerely, Cheryl (Follansbee) Hoxie, Exeter, NH
